Winter
2011-12 Schedule
Canine University offers classes for all levels, abilities and
interests. All courses are taught using operant conditioning
through the use of a clicker and treats.
Beginners Classes are Open Enrollment, this means there is no need to wait, you can start this week!!
Puppy Kindergarten- just for pups 8-18 weeks at the
start of class- is held Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30 pm.
Beginners Obedience, appropriate for all ages, perfect
for dogs who have had no formal training and also a good starting
point for those who have taken a class at their local pet
shop or shelter. Open Enrollment Obedience is offered Wednesday
evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm. Orientation- attended without
your dog- is every Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
Each of Canine University's beginner classes offers solid,
foundational training to get you started on realizing the
companion of your dreams (or at least a dog you like to live
with!). We'll gladly help you set and reach your goals, and
provide lots of coaching and attention to those special areas
of concern!
As your dog's abilities increase, this class format allows
students to successfully transition into Intermediate coursework.
Intermediate (a/k/a Beginners Part II) builds upon
concepts learned in our beginners classes. It's the appropriate
Next Step from puppy or adult dog beginner obedience. Beginners
II is also open enrollment, so you can start any Tuesday at
6:30.
Specialty Courses Six weeks in length, these
have a specific agenda, whether it be working with a reactive
dog, teaching tricks or strengthening your relationship thru
training games.
Workshops and Seminars In addition to a monthly Puppy
Head-Start, we occasionally offer single-date lectures as
well as hands-on workshops in our class schedule. These may
target nuisance behavior, prepare you for the AKC Canine God
Citizens test, or cover topics on canine social behavior.
